Fall Break in Botswana (October 2014)

During fall break, what is a great way to spend it? Visiting Africa for the first time, and camping (also for the first time) in Botswana!!

Just FYI, you need sunscreen. I don't care who you are. It's stupid hot, and the sunshine is killer.

The camping spot was really nice, and included a men's and women's bathrooms and SHOWERS? And this was just our personal space and didn't have to share with other groups.
4-star camping for my first time sleeping in a tent - I am forever spoiled.

As part of our adventure, we went out on a hike to Moremi Gorge.

Let me tell you, it was more than just a walking trail, and I LOVED it. We were climbing rocks, jumping creeks, and doing this number:

 There was also this sign.

The whole thing was beautiful, and there were plenty of locations to chill and take photos.

And then the moment we were waiting for...

For the rest of the trip, I mostly just hung out in Wes' dorm while he was in class (boo), or we ate food, which is always fun.

And that's when I found my most favoritest (it's so good I have to use a fake word) food in the whole world:

Chicken pies and fat cakes.

AND THIS WAS BREAKFAST MADE HEAVENLY.

Best of all, though, was spending time with Wesley.

Costume party on Halloween night

Well, and the layovers in Cairo's airport (which, btw I highly recommend Egypt Air).
This was my view as the plane took off from Cairo on the way back to France:

October Adventures: My Day with Jessica and Erin!

After Porcelain I went with Jessica and her boyfriend to explore an underground cavern.

It was only 30 minutes, but for 3€ you can't really complain. Afterwards we grabbed a drink and planned a dinner date!

Gasp! I drank a beer!
We went to Les Tables du Bistrot, which is kind of out of the way, and not available by bus. It's a very rustic style, and actually has a barn in it!

I had some flank of beef and ratatouille. Jessica had lamb, and Erin had duck. Erin was the clear winner. His duck was AMAZING.

October Adventures: Porcelain Museum

There was a free visit day at the local Porcelain Museum for students, so I made sure to sign up! Below are just a few of the thousands of pieces they have! (I'm partial to just white, but the majority did have colors!)

How ceramic is often used in the body.

They also had a very extensive area where they explained the history and creation of porcelain.
